My interest in a legal career began quite late compared to many others. I enjoyed studying Law at A-level which led to many conversations with my teacher to explore my options. She encouraged me to look at Solicitor Apprenticeships as I was certain that I did not want to go to University. Once I began researching the role, I realised it was definitely something I wanted to do and led to me pursuing opportunities such as Work Experience in order to enhance my understanding of Law.
SpringPod was one of the first Work Experience placements that I enrolled in. I was attracted to the company as it was flexible enough to fit around my studies as I could work at my own pace - this allowed me to remain focused on my studies simultaneously to completing the Work experience. The content of the work was also something that stood out to me - it was incredibly engaging and relevant to the future careers whilst still being appropriate for those with limited previous knowledge.
I completed both the Law and the Politics programmes and it definitely helped shape my career choices as I was unsure which route would interest me the most - I thoroughly enjoyed being able to engage with 'clients' and it is a skill that I have been able to transfer to my professional life.
Advice I would give to someone considering a law apprenticeship would be go for it! There are so many advantages to undertaking a law apprenticeship and it has definitely been one of my best decisions. It is important that people considering the route stay resilient as it is a highly competitive field but perseverance is key and it is possible to succeed.
I also advise that they complete as much work experience as possible wether it is online or actually in a law firm - it allows you to ensure the career is the right fit for you but also equips you with highly transferable skills that come across well within interviews and every day life. I would definitely advocate solicitor apprenticeships as they help you gain valuable experience and make amazing connections.
