Management has always been a concept that excited me; the ability of an individual to lead a business through both times of hardship and uncertainty, as well as prosperity and success underpin the scale of financial reward. With that in mind, I constantly sought opportunities to lead and develop throughout my school life, with examples including being a prefect and house captain, as well as founding my own business society and acting as several ambassadors for companies.
On a more personal level, I developed a passion for the travel industry when I was around 15 through studying geography. I knew travelling was something I definitely wanted to do, however I recognised the environmental impacts of doing so, so felt I needed to research sustainable ways to do this. Through doing this, I found out about the TUI care foundation, and how the company strive to support communities and really harness tourism as a force for good, which was something I really believed in.
I think the real USP of Springpod is the flexibility surrounding the site. You can complete work experience at times convenient for you, which is something so beneficial yet rare. There is also a staggering course variety, with a real sense of care about the quality of experience delivered, as experts are carefully sought out.
I found the site really easy and accessible to use, both on compatibility terms in the sense I could access it from any device, but also from a navigation perspective, as I could always find the materials quickly. Overall this enriched my experience dramatically, as it meant I could swiftly access everything and I didn’t miss anything.
My Springpod experience definitely increased my passion for management as it fuelled my determination to break into the industry. The course provided in-depth and insightful information, meaning I felt better prepared for interviews and the world of work, and I also learnt new concepts which have been really applicable in day-to-day activities.
I think my key piece of advice is research the company. And when I say research, I mean everything.
You want to know the company inside out- their finances, mission, goals, culture, employees, diversity, CSR, product range, etc. Showing a genuine passion for the company really helps you stand out, and your ability to embed this wealth of knowledge into interview answers and tasks on assessment centres means you are really demonstrating why you want them, and why they should want you.
