When did you first develop an interest in law?

I studied law at college. In first year I didn’t do well in mock exams. But in the second year I knew I didn’t want to have to re-do college. and started doing well. I had an amazing teacher and starting getting good marks. The teacher sat down with me and said you could be a lawyer.

What attracted you to Springpod, how was your experience of using it and how did it affect your career direction?

I remember how good it was, used it in easter holidays, set amount of work experience. I remember the fact I could fit around my college work and not fall behind. The materials and the learning on the springpod website were set out really well and there were templates that really helped, first time I saw legal docs. The fact it could go on my CV and I list it as experience.

What advice you have for young people considering apprenticeships?

Don’t give up, I applied for 30 programmes, vacation schemes, got rejected by all of them. A month before uni I got accepted by one. Be resilient and take the feedback on the chin. Smaller law firms, gave me specific advice, take that on, use it to your advantage. There’s always other routes. Look at the potential routes in, there’s options beyond the degree apprenticeship.

Since I was young I didn’t want debt, I wanted to start earning and learning. That’s been my motto since then. I work better in tactile environments. I never did well in exams. On the job experience.
